Griffith

Today, Stu and I visited Griffith Observatory overlooking the beautiful city of Los Angeles. The building opened in 1935, but closed in 2002 to undergo an extensive renovation and addition. Brenda Levin did the renovation work, and the firm that I work for, Pfeiffer Partners, did the addition. It just recently re-opened at the end of 2006, and although it is free to visit, you have to have reservations to visit, which have been hard to come by. Fortunately we were able to go this weekend, and it wasn't too crowded.

We were able to see the planeterium show, which was unbelievable! We ate at Wolfgang Puck's Cafe at the End of the Universe, which unfortunately was not stellar, explored the exhibits and the grounds, and saw the movie about the history of the observatory in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater. All in all, it was a great day. We were able to park at the Greek Theater and catch a shuttle up the hill. The weather was clear, and aside from some really misbehaving children, it all went smoothly.
