Weekend Away...
We just got home from a weekend in the mountains with our friends Markus, Milena, and their friend Heather + their dogs, Zeus and Sabine respectively. Markus' grandfather built the cabin when his mother was a child, and it's been in the family ever since, with recent additions designed and built by Markus. Quite beautiful.
Stu and I had to work on Friday, so we drove up seperately from them, but it was a gorgeous drive, and we leisurely made our way up the mountain. To see pics, click here.
We arrived in time for dinner and drinking, with lots of time spent gossiping over celebrity magazines and life in general. Saturday morning we slowly got up and had a wonderful breakfast of eggs and sausage (made locally - chicken and apple). Then Markus drove Stu and I over to Lake Arrowhead (pics) and around the area to see the local sites. Lake Arrowhead is actually where the original springs for Arrowhead Water are located. We took a dip in the lake, which was quite cool in temperature but very refreshing. Since it was the weekend after 4th of July, there were lots of people out on boats and enjoying the holiday weekend. We eventually made our way back to the cabin (pics) to grill out and enjoy board games like Trivial Pursuit, Apples to Apples, and Scattergories. Much fun!Sunday morning, after another delicious breakfast of local fare, Stu and I headed out to venture up to Big Bear (pics)... it was great to wander around the shops and eat lunch, then drive around the lake before settling on a spot to relax. A very nice day.
